The “Gaza King” deejay did not receive a single nomination at this year’s Your View Awards, former Youth View, because of some rules changes. The YVA says they will not nominate any artist who can’t perform at the event which automatically disqualifies Kartel because of his incarceration. A rep for the deejay told Dancehall HipHop that he is not angry but still sees it as another attempt to silence his voice. “It’s not our show so we can’t vex if they don’t nominate us (Gaza boss), but this is more clear evidence of a plot to silence Worl’Boss and stifle his music,” his rep said. “Thankfully we are living in an age where the fans can go online and get the music directly from artists so we don’t have to go through radio stations or major labels. The fans know that Kartel is the biggest and baddest artist in the history of dancehall. Him in a league by himself and no other artist even come close to his level. So what is dancehall award show without Vybz Kartel?” Kartel’s bigges...
